On “Failing Fast” — Innovation Series Preview with Kickoff Presenter Ron Farrell
Next month’s PrecisionAg® Professional Innovation Series tackles the key challenges, pain points and opportunities that service providers experience as they work to build their precision programs and deliver value to grower-customers. I’ve enjoyed the challenge of assembling a strong group of presenters with diverse experiences that should make for an interesting day of learning and business development.
One person that I have come to rely on for advice on industry trends is Ron Farrell. Ron’s 40-plus year career has included work at every level of the crop distribution channel, including being one of the key driving forces behind the development of the Certified Crop Adviser program, and a behind-the-scenes champion of the data standards initiative AgGateway. In recent years, he’s worked directly with mid-sized local and regional ag retailers, helping them evaluate their businesses and to develop sustainable business strategies. Which means that he is an unabashed advocate of precision programs.
Ron’s thoughts on precision agriculture and service providers will kick off the Innovation Series conference on February 22 in St. Louis. Attached is an excerpt from my conversation with Ron, here sharing some thoughts the need for retailers to “fail fast” in this time of rapidly evolving technology
