“With the Institute, we have a way to bring together growers of food and fiber crops, ag retailers, equipment and technology manufacturers, agricultural service providers, ag consultants, and education and University specialists — all united under a mission of knowledge transfer in a way that benefits global agriculture,” says Al Strohmaier, CropLife Media Group publisher.

The PrecisionAg Institute will be funded by a group of Founding Partners whose financial support reflects their strong commitment to precision agriculture education and development. The list of Founding Partners will be announced in a follow-up press release on June 9.

A Long History In Precision Agriculture

The CropLife Media Group boasts significant heritage in the precision agriculture movement. Throughout the 1990s, CropLife parent company Meister Media Worldwide and Clear Window MultiMedia, then competing organizations, each provided extensive coverage of the precision agriculture revolution via print, in-person events, awards programs, and multimedia projects. In 2000, Meister Media Worldwide acquired Clear Window MultiMedia, bringing the resources and expertise of the two organizations under one roof. Clear Window properties included PrecisionAg.com, the PrecisionAg Buyer’s Guide, PrecisionAg Illustrated and Dealer PROGRESS magazines. Dealer PROGRESS was merged with Farm Chemicals to become CropLife magazine, while PrecisionAg.com and the PrecisionAg Buyer’s Guide were integrated into Meister’s precision technology suite of media offerings.

Today, PrecisionAg.com is the leading precision agriculture destination site on the Web, and the annual PrecisionAg Buyer’s Guide has been joined by three additional Special Reports, creating a quarterly print product reaching top growers, consultants, and full service retailers across the country.

“With the combined experience and history present in these brands, along with Meister’s connection to other crops through vehicles such as Farm Chemicals International, Cotton Grower, Cotton International®, American Vegetable Grower, Florida Grower™ and American Fruit Grower, we are in a unique position to drive a deeper understanding of the value of precision agriculture technology in a focused, crop-specific manner,” says K. Elliott Nowels, vice president of business development for Meister Media Worldwide.

Nowels says agriculturalists are being called upon to deliver food and fiber in an increasingly productive and more sustainable way under more public scrutiny, which continues to make the value and benefits of new technology more distinct and important.

“Precision agriculture technology is key to our future,” says Nowels. “But only if the tools of this technology and its benefits are understood in a way that can make a difference out in the world. This is the challenge we hope to help meet with the PrecisionAg Institute.”
