Top Positions Filled At Topcon

Topcon Positioning Systems announced the addition of Kevin Cobb and Fraser Smith to key management positions.

Cobb has joined the company as director of product management and business development for precision agriculture products. Cobb was formerly with AGCO Corporation as advanced technologies manager. Smith, a geomatics engineer with extensive experience in GNSS product research and development (R&D), has been named director of GNSS product management for Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS). Both will report to Mark Hornstra, senior vice president, marketing and product management.

Cobb has 20 years of experience in the precision agriculture business. “When you combine his product knowledge with the relationships he has established in the industry over the years,” Hornstra said, “you have a combination we gladly welcome to Topcon’s product management team.

“Kevin’s history in the industry and his work in emerging technologies will strengthen the product strategy development that supports Topcon’s Precision Agriculture Business Unit,” Hornstra said.

Smith, former R&D manager for Point, Inc., will take the leadership role in defining the product line strategies for GNSS products for Topcon and Sokkia.

Smith “has a wealth of experience that will help create our next generation of innovative GNSS products,” says Hornstra. “Fraser’s background will help optimize our development roadmaps and plans to improve product time-to-market and cost performance.”

Smith’s responsibilities will include working closely with the company’s engineering groups, as well as marketing and operations teams to “ensure the development of innovative and exciting products, that continue to be world-class in regard to quality and performance,” Hornstra said.
