Wilbur-Ellis’ AgVerdict Upgrade Focused On Data-Driven Decision Making

Wilbur-Ellis Company announced the launch of what it terms “the most comprehensive upgrade to date” of its field technology software, AgVerdict. The upgrade includes significant improvements for data-enabled decisions and planning.

“We conducted extensive interviews with our customers to better understand their evolving precision needs,” said Mike Wilbur, director of field technologies for Wilbur-Ellis. “Producers described the need for a strategic decision toolkit for easy monitoring and tracking of inputs and performance within their operations. AgVerdict ultimately brings data from multiple sources together as usable information, allowing producers to make decisions to enhance production practices, increase returns and maximize revenue opportunities,” said Wilbur.

The AgVerdict upgrade allows producers to store their information on a cloud-based system for easy access from any field location, and is available for iOS mobile devices. The user-friendly software is customizable based on the operation, with GPS tracking that includes mapping, input usage on a per field basis, performance monitoring, record keeping, and the convenience to store years of data in one place.

The record keeping function is a secure portal that Wilbur says “meets the requirements of food certification programs, plus budgeting and worker safety processes, ultimately leading to maximized efficiencies.”  Data from AgVerdict can be exported by the producer for electronic or print submission to various GAP and GHP programs, end-use buyers or when required by regulation.

As far as its position on data ownership and control, “Wilbur-Ellis firmly believes producers should own, control, and have full transparency as to how their information is being used,” said Mike Wilbur. To support this view, Wilbur-Ellis is a founding member of the Open Ag Data Alliance, or OADA.  OADA will act as an independent body to ensure that diverse precision ag platforms share common interoperability, data formats, and security/privacy standards.

AgVerdict allows producers across the country to better plan and expand their operations based on the information the software provides and manages for them, said Bill Suess, National Field Technology Specialist for Wilbur-Ellis in Farmington, NM. “A producer working with our agronomy team is able to accurately pinpoint the needs of a field using data from multiple systems, saving the producer time and money.”

“The overall impact AgVerdict has on an operation is indispensable,” said Dr. Jason Ellsworth, AgVerdict Product Manager at Wilbur-Ellis. “The customization capability enables the producer to tailor the software specifically to meet the individual needs of their operation, since all operations are not the same.”
