DuPont/Pioneer Acquires MapShots

In a time of increasing pressure on growers to make the most precise decisions about crops, seed, inputs, and harvest, Pioneer’s move indicates a desire to provide growers with more information to do just that.

Said Sue Hoover, marketing director, Pioneer North America: “MapShots enhances the services available from Pioneer that help customers get the right product on the right acre and maximize their profitability. “(This) announcement demonstrates our continuing commitment to provide Pioneer customers with exceptional service.”

Pioneer has had a long-standing business relationship with MapShots. With the acquisition, Pioneer will be able to extend its Pioneer FIT mapping service and information available through its GrowingPoint website record-keeping service. FIT mapping, available to customers through Pioneer sales professionals, is part of a suite of services available to growers to help them make best seed choices and placements for specific growing conditions.

MapShots will continue to sell, support and enhance its EASi Suite line of desktop software for growers and professional service providers, shared Ted Macy, MapShots owner and founder. “MapShots will also continue to license core precision agriculture components to other companies for inclusion in their products and services. Together with Pioneer, MapShots will continue its commitment to open data standards that allow data sharing and compatibility across different brands of field equipment and software.”
