When it comes to Microsoft, nothing is truly dead in terms of deals until they say it’s dead. But for now, the move to acquire Yahoo! seems to have been rebuffed. However, last week’s thoughtful conteplations on a potential Yahoo!-Microsoft deal provided a lot of insight into what’s lacking in the world of technology today, and what some big thinkers would like to see happen. On the other hand, our reader poll did not lend much evidence to the question, “What exactly was Microsoft hoping to achieve in buying Yahoo!?” Certainly not for market reach in the search engine area. Google was mentioned as the favored search engine by nearly 8 in 10 of the respondents to the reader poll last issue. Google surely is a force to be reckoned with. Til next time ….
