The Buzz At ARA, Day One

Greetings from Las Vegas, where I’m attending the Agricultural Retailers Association annual meeting. The talk here on the first day has been dominated by the recent announcement about Agrium’s move to purchase UAP. But with the rosy outlook generally predicted for agriculture in 2008, There’s lot of buzz around this conference, including technology.

Interest has continued to grow in two areas in particular — GPS steering and application control at the boom. In particular, automatic nozzle control and boom height leveling have taken off and show no signs of slowing down in 2008.
