Ag Leader Creates Precision Agriculture Scholarship

Five Ag Leader scholarships will be awarded annually starting in the 2008/2009 school year.

“Ag Leader has benefited from the knowledge and expertise of many graduates from ABE at Iowa State University,” says President of Ag Leader, Al Myers. “Our goal is to enhance students” awareness of, and interest in precision agriculture so they are prepared for the ever-changing agriculture industry landscape.”

“We are very lucky to have such a great industry partner. Ag Leader values ABE highly and wants to take part in providing a quality education and in-classroom experience to our students. This kind of industry-university partnership is extremely important for educational institutions to train future engineers and technologists. Ag Leader’s close proximity to campus makes them an invaluable resource for our students,” says ABE Department Chair, Dr. Ramesh Kanwar.

“Their commitment and generosity will help facilitate our growing precision agriculture program within ABE.”

To be eligible for the scholarship students must be studying a major within the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, meet GPA and credit requirements, as well as be currently enrolled in or haven taken a class in precision agriculture.
