Europe: How Can Agriculture 4.0 Help Agro-Ecosystems?

After mechanization, chemistry and biotechnology, agriculture is undergoing yet another revolution with digital agriculture — or agriculture 4.0, writes Jonathan Dubrulle for The European Scientist.

However, there is not just one but several digital agricultures: While they share the use of new technologies, they differ in their aims and means. These technologies can help farmers, consultants, and researchers develop more resilient agro-ecosystems, with farms gaining more autonomy (less dependent on external inputs) and becoming more economical (by reducing costs).
