Onset’s Leaf Wetness Sensor Headed To Europe

Onset, a world leader in data loggers and weather stations, today announced that the company’s research-grade Leaf Wetness Smart Sensor is now CE Compliant. This enables the sensors to be sold to the European market, as they currently meet the 2013 update to the requirements.

The Leaf Wetness Smart Sensor, which offers plug-and-play performance with Onset’s HOBO U30 and H21 Weather Stations, provides accurate leaf wetness data in a number of growing and research applications. Designed to emulate the surface of a leaf, the sensor is ready to use and does not require any painting or coating. Along with a 3-meter cable, the Leaf Wetness Smart Sensor comes with a mounting bracket so it can be easily positioned to mimic the wet-dry characteristics of the plants being studied.

Since the sensors are compatible with a range of Onset HOBO U30 Weather Station models, users have a choice as to how they access their leaf wetness data. This includes direct data offload in the field using a HOBO data shuttle or laptop computer, or remotely accessing the data over the Internet via Cellular, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet communications. The sensors are also compatible with Onset’s HOBO Micro Station, a cost-effective, four-channel data logger for microclimate monitoring.
