While precision farming involves different components and practices, all of the tools contribute to a more thoughtful, informed approach to crop production. As you progress as a crop producer along the path of using more tools and better you may be surprised at the benefits you gain. Many of them may be outside your initial reasons for putting these tools to use.

Novice Users Intermediate Users Advanced Users

We've taken what we've learned in conversations with hundreds of precision agriculture users and attempted to place the adoption of that tool or practice on a generic timeline of adoption.

Research with users of precision tools has shown that the more precision technology they use, the more profitable they become. It's important to remember that precision agriculture is a journey and not a destination. And on the journey, it's important to remember, as the car ads say, "your mileage may vary."

It's important to remember, too, that there are benefits accruing to many people well beyond the farm gate. In this way the good stewardship and sustainability of precision agriculture works for everyone.
