Trimble Joins PrecisionAg Institute

Following its recent acquisition of Rawson Control Systems, a founding member of the PrecisionAg Institute, Trimble Navigation has assumed Rawson’s leadership position in the Institute. The PrecisionAg Institute is an independent global forum dedicated to the sharing of precision agriculture practices, ideas, research, products, services and success stories. The PrecisionAg Institute is managed by the CropLife®Media Group of Meister Media Worldwide.

“We are very pleased to join the PrecisionAg Institute in helping educate farmers and others about the exciting technology developments in this rapidly growing field,” said George Huber, Director Worldwide Agriculture Sales for Trimble. “These tools can benefit farmers with increased profitability, as well as the environment with more accurate and efficient application of crop inputs.”

The company has joined as a Precision Partner, reinforcing their commitment to improving the transfer of knowledge, the widening of adoption, and effectiveness of the use of precision agriculture technology. They join AGCO Global Technologies, Ag Leader Technology, Dickey-john, Micro-Trak Systems, Inc., OmniStar, Terra, and SST Development Group. In addition to financial support, Trimble will be providing guidance and counsel as activities and initiatives move forward in the months ahead.

“By signing on as a Precision Partner, each one of these organizations has expressed a belief in and commitment to agriculture, and the critical importance that technology provides for improving yield, efficiency, and the bottom line for the crop production channel,” says Paul Schrimpf, group editor of the CropLife Media Group.

The PrecisionAg Institute will incorporate a variety of integrated media offerings to help precision agriculture practitioners better understand and use precision agriculture technology. PrecisionAg Institute activities in 2009 include the Institute's PrecisionAg WORKS educational campaign, the Institute's online advocacy web site, www.precisionagworks.com, the PrecisionAg e-news, regional precision agriculture events and the PrecisionAg Award of Excellence. More information on the PrecisionAg Institute can be found on www.precisionagworks.com.
