The pre-conference tour will be Monday, July 15. The tour will leave the Crowne Plaza at 9:00am and return by 5:00pm. The tour will visit three central Illinois locations. Please note: these stops and times are subject to change.
Bus transportation, lunch, and beverages will be provided.
Stop 1: Brandt Consolidated Research Farm
At the Brandt Research Farm we will hear talks from Senior Agronomist Ed Corrigan and learn about Brandt’s research program. Sean Arians, with Monsanto, will discuss the IFS program.
Stop 2: Springfield Plastics
Springfield Plastics manufactures field tile. Their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility goes from pellets to pipe and we will see it all. Steve Baker will guide the tour through the manufacturing plant and take us to an installation of a saturated buffer strip, an example of the latest controlled drainage systems.
Stop 3: UAV Demonstrations
Drones will be featured at our final stop of the day. UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) vendors including AutoCopter and Aerial Precision Ag will demonstrate their products at Holmes Field. We’ll get to see several UAVs in action and have some additional tools to show.
