I think the impact on ag will be minimal. In the longer run, there will be an overall benefit to the economy, and agriculture, because of increased competition between Google and Microsoft. Anytime competition increases, the economy overall benefits. From Google’s and Microsoft’s point of view, I suspect agricultural users are not high on their list of priorities and agriculture is not why Microsoft is interested in buying Yahoo.
 
There are some changes with FCC regulations regarding wideband services in rural areas using the freed-up VHF frequencies that will soon happen with the shift of TV to digital. These changes will have a direct impact on how the internet extends with wireless services throughout rural America. These changes will be a much more interesting story that will directly affect the readers of this email.
