360 Yield Center Launches Mobile App, Upgrades 360 Commander

360 Yield Center brought nearly 1,500 farmers from across the country for hands-on product demonstrations and crop management education during Yield Summit 2015, on Jan. 20-21, 2015, in Washington, IL.

“Our team of farmers, agronomists and engineers are on a mission — to help every farmer reach the yield potential of modern seed corn,” said Gregg Sauder, founder and president of 360 Yield Center. “I’ve never been more excited about what’s to come in 2015.”

Announcements made by 360 Yield Center at the Yield Summit include:

Applying smart decisions just got easier

360 Yield Center announced new product enhancements for 360 COMMANDER, the agronomic decision-making tool and proprietary crop modeling software. 360 COMMANDER gives farmers recommendations to reach more of the yield potential they plant. It pulls in real-time data from outside sources — such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture soils database and weather information — and combines it with farmers’ unique data to create customized crop management prescription plans.

At Yield Summit 2015, 360 Yield Center launched a user-friendly mobile app for 360 COMMANDER, which will be available in the app store for iPhone and iPad in the spring of 2015. It also introduced the new 360 COMMANDER Bridge, a wireless system, powered by the nationwide Verizon Wireless network, that allows farmers to download files from 360 COMMANDER. In the cab or anywhere, farmers will have more access to information and can, in real-time, take action on 360 COMMANDER prescriptions.

“We wanted to find a way to make it even easier to implement 360 COMMANDER prescription plans,” Sauder said. “Our team is really excited about helping farmers move more quickly from making decisions to applying them in the field. These enhancements to 360 COMMANDER will do just that.”

Now, farmers and agronomists can create crop management prescriptions with 360 COMMANDER from their office or home, pull the plan up from their tractor cab using the mobile app and make updates with real-time, in-field information. With an up-to-the-minute plan, farmers can use 360 COMMANDER Bridge to send the real-time prescriptions to their tractor’s monitor without the need for USB drives.

Improvements in the Sense-Decide-Apply product system

360 Yield Center also announced updates to its entire product system that offers more power to sense, decide and apply farming solutions for better-performing crops and better on-farm profits.

“Since our company launch at Proving Grounds last summer, our team has been hard at work developing product updates that make our system even better than before, with more farmer- and field-friendly designs,” Sauder said.

360 SOILSCAN

360 Yield Center showcased the new version of 360 SOILSCAN, including a demonstration of the new iPad interface that walks users through the step-by-step, in-field soil testing system. 360 SOILSCAN is a portable soil testing tool that gives farmers the ability to perform soil nitrate analysis in about five minutes, so farmers can make more-accurate and timely nutrient management decisions. 360 SOILSCAN also has multiple sensor slots to allow for future soil nutrient testing capabilities without the need for product upgrades.

360 Y-DROP and 360 UNDERCOVER

Yield Summit 2015 featured a simulation to show the latest updates for 360 Y-DROP and 360 UNDERCOVER.

360 Y-DROP gives farmers a wider window of application and more control over when and where to apply nitrogen and other nutrients to their crops. The unique design allows farmers to apply full-season nitrogen — even up to tassel — with precision placement and variable rate application. Recent updates to 360 Y-DROP include:

  • Adjustable arms with quick release pins to allow for customized hose placement for varied row spacing (20 inches to 30 inches) to ensure optimal placement of nitrogen and other nutrients at the stalk base.
  • A new shape to the nose of 360 Y-DROP to ensure smooth gliding through the canopy to gently move corn leaves out of the away.
  • A customizable spring damped riser to assist with centering the unit within the row for reliable nutrient placement.

360 UNDERCOVER helps farmers protect crops from late-season disease and insect infestations. It uses multidirectional spray nozzles and slides easily under the canopy so farmers can target fungicides, insecticides and nutrients exactly where needed for better product efficacy and improved crop health. Recent updates to 360 UNDERCOVER include:

  • Customizable nozzle placement to allow for increased canopy coverage and adjustments for spray volume at the speed and pressure selected.
  • New durable shell design to provide added protection and smooth navigation down rows.
  • Easy-to-use release mechanism for quick up-and-down nozzle adjustment to best target pests.

A new look at better residue management to come in 2015

The newest transformative farming solution from 360 Yield Center is 360 CHAINROLL, an advanced stalk roll system that offers a forward-thinking approach to residue management. Sauder announced the new product during Yield Summit 2015.

A 3-D printer at the event showed production of the 360 CHAINROLL prototype. 360 CHAINROLL will be available for field testing by farmers in fall 2015.

Through a patent-pending design, 360 CHAINROLL chops and crimps stalks but leaves most sections connected — like a chain — making residue more available for microbial breakdown, which will increase decomposition rate. Unlike traditional OEM and retrofit upgrade systems, 360 CHAINROLL leaves fewer small-residue pieces in the seed zone — giving producers control to capture more yield potential of seed by decreasing the likelihood of seeding blight and poor emergence.

“Yield potential starts with the previous year’s harvest and how crop residue and soil health is managed,” Sauder added. “Residue management is a key part of the 360 Yield Circle and 360 CHAINROLL offers a new approach to help farmers think differently about corn stalk chopping. We’re really excited to get it into the hands of farmers.”
