Topcon Software Features Water Management

Topcon Precision Agriculture’s new field design, grading and survey software “AGForm-3D” is an intuitive and easy-to-use water management solution for improving irrigation and surface drainage.

“The advanced software features a unique and powerful capability for non-planar surface designs,” said Kevin Cobb, director of agriculture product management. “AGForm-3D allows an operator to create optimal design surfaces by choosing either single or dual planes, or non-planar surfaces. This capability provides greater flexibility and cost savings for earthmoving projects.”

He said, “The software provides 3D, plan and profile views of the existing topography to help you choose the best design.” Additionally, “it allows an operator to break the field into multiple sections to reduce yardage, shorten haul distances and minimize topsoil cuts.”

AGForm-3D also provides handy tools to calculate distances, slopes, areas and volumes, Cobb said, which are very helpful to determine export volumes for roads and levees or monitor grading progress. Images are displayed in the plan view as well as profile view; summary or comprehensive reports can also be printed.

“AGForm-3D is an ideal field survey program for use with Topcon’s System 210 land leveling and machine control,” he said. Using AGForm-3D on a laptop or tablet computer, it’s a simple matter to design the field, then transfer the file to the control for automatic GPS control, Cobb said.
