Slingshot Is Wireless Breakthrough For Raven

Raven is charging headlong into the wireless world with the introduction of Slingshot, a web-based telematics solution that ties together proprietary hardware and a web platform that brings robust wireless connectivity to growers and designated Slingshot dealers.

Fully implemented, the Slingshot solution will deliver key capabilities to end users, including RTK GPS correction via cell signal, high-speed Internet access, asset tracking, access to real-time service from authorized Slingshot dealers, and the ability to transfer data such as prescription maps without cards or wires.

The system features several key components. The cell signals can be accessed one of two ways — through existing public CORS networks, and through a system of base stations being installed for Slingshot dealers that will feature a 30-plus mile radius of signal accessibility. An industrial grade modem, the Slingshot Field Hub, resides in the vehicle cab to receive the signal, which requires a cellular subscription to access. The result is repeatable RTK GPS correction and full Internet access.

For application operations, tying in a field computer allows for the wireless transfer of prescription maps, as well as the collection of data on field assets via a secure Slingshot account. The account can be accessed from any computer in the world with Internet access. Also, end-users can get live, remote support from Slingshot staff via the high-speed Internet connection.

The service is currently only available through select Slingshot dealers throughout North America, and is compatible with Raven and most non-Raven precision hardware.

  1. How much is the total cost for a dealer to put an antenna on his roof, with the base station. Also how do we become a dealer for raven?

  2. The ravenslingshot.com site is fully functional with additional information on how Slingshot can improve your operation. To gain pricing information and inquire on becoming a Raven Dealer, please use the “contact us” field on our website or email [email protected].

  3. We are planning to purchase a guidance system for our sprayer. I would like it to be movable to our planter tractor. We grow strip-till cotton and soybeans. We do a lot of burndown, pre-emergence, and post emergence spraying. We are not wanting to start with RTK right now, but may want to later. Could you give some suggestions. Thank you.
