Upgradability Is Central To New Trimble Display

Manufacturers of precision equipment have always had to balance the desire to bring high-tech newbies to the table with easy to start, easy to upgrade technology, while still meeting the needs of the more seasoned precision users.

Trimble’s latest effort to satisfy both sides is the newly released CFX-750 display. On the “power scale” it falls somewhere between the popular AgGPS 500 and the top-end FmX, but includes some of the features of both to widen its appeal.

Like the AgGPS EZ-Guide 500, the new unit features a traditional LED lightbar that serves the same purpose as analog gauges in tractors and rigs, notes Troy Stuart, product manager of lightbars andsensors. “It provides a sense of security and confidence that you’re right on line,” he says.

The basic unit, priced at $2,995, features US GPS constellation access, with upgrades available to add GLONASS satellite access, or to step all the way up to RTK access through an add-on radio receiver. Access to GLONASS, the Russian global positioning satellite constellation, virtually doubles the number of satellites the unit can utilize, reducing the chance for outages and downtime.

The CFX-750 can also be paired with other Trimble technology. For precision planting operations, the CFX-750 is compatible with Trimble’s Field-IQ crop input control system, and Tru Count clutches and can perform section control on up to 48 sections. Adding rate control with the Field-IQ system saves costs, increases yields and keeps records of what was applied.

Finally, operators can increase visibility from the cab by using the two live video feeds on the CFX-750 display to view the implement being pulled behind the vehicle.

The new unit is available now through local Trimble dealers. For more information, visit: www.trimble.com/agriculture.
