Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS) has announced personnel changes in its Precision Agriculture (TPA) business unit. Albert Zahalka, who joined TPA as its senior vice president early in 2010, was promoted to president of the unit and Mark Bittner was added to manage the North American sales for TPA and develop global agricultural OEM opportunities.
“Thanks to Albert’s leadership we have continued our growth in Australia, and increased our business around the world,” said Ray O’Connor, TPS president and CEO regarding Zahalka’s contributions to TPA to date. “Albert has an incredible knowledge of the worldwide agriculture market and his continued leadership as president is critical for the expansion of our agriculture business.”
Bittner, senior vice president and general manager of the company’s global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) division, will assume the additional responsibilities for global agriculture OEM and North American aftermarket sales management. Bittner will continue to report to Ray O’Connor, TPS president and CEO. “Mark has done an excellent job in growing our OEM business and will now put his team of experts to work to meet the needs of customers and dealers in the North American ag market,” O’Connor said.
Zahalka said of Bittner, “We are excited to have Mark’s expertise as we continue to develop our global OEM opportunities. His management of North American sales now gives us the resources to implement our global sales strategy, with Carlos Monreal focused on Europe and South America, and David Frick continuing to grow our strong position in Australia.”
“Mark’s added focus will allow us to rapidly increase our business in the global agricultural market,” O’Connor added.
