Five Technology Offerings Top Expo’s Hot Products

The World Ag Expo recently announced its Top Ten New Products that attendees will be seeing at the 2008 event in February. Selected from a pool of applications submitted by Expo exhibitors, the Top Ten represent the most innovative products showcased at the annual event. And 5 of the 10 are geared toward high technology and precision applications.

“Year after year, Expo attendees come to the show to find the technology and services to make their operation more profitable and efficient. These winners represent the best that the ag industry has to offer,” Shelley Khal, 2008 World Ag Expo chairman.

The Top Ten, chosen by a committee of farmers and industry experts, will be showcased in the New Product Center at World Ag Expo. Official unveiling of the New Product Center will be held on Media Day, Monday, Feb. 11, 2008. In no particular order, here are the top precision products:

CropCam from PineCreek Precision
PineCreek Precision introduces a revolutionary hand-launched plane containing an autopilot which allows it to fly preprogrammed or custom flight paths while taking timely, high resolution color and near infrared (NIR) images. PineCreek Precision software then processes and stitches these together showing complete fields. The resulting images may be imported into any commercially available analysis software or analyzed by PineCreek Precision. The images can be used to help make decisions for fertilizer, chemical and water placement along with capturing damage caused by hail, wind or animals. If aerial images and analysis are needed, PineCreek Precision has the solutions.

AutoProbe from AgRobotics, LLC
The AgRobotics’ AutoProbe is the first high speed continuous operation precision soil sampler. Computerized core samples are collected to a precise depth at predetermined intervals and delivered to sample boxes in the cab. For example, at a constant speed of 8 mph over a 2.5 acre grid, 20 cores comprising one sample are collected & boxed in under 40 seconds. The patent-pending machine is guided with GPS assisted steering providing accuracy and repeatability while eliminating worker fatigue.

PureSense Irrigation Manager from PureSense
PureSense growers manage crop performance in real-time to maximize crop potential and minimize costs. The patented information system and proprietary field monitoring stations collect, relay and process continuous data about soil, water and climate, so customers can access easy-to-use PureSense ‘know-how’ and online software applications anytime, from anywhere. Turn-key solutions alert growers to soil moisture conditions, tracks irrigation events, provides early warning for frost events, and guides growers on precision irrigation scheduling. Customers see +400% ROI in the first year, and the benefits of solar powered systems. PureSense Irrigation Manager is the basic entry service to a full range of PureSense Agricultural Solutions.

Field Water Alarm from Jacobson Remotics
The Field Water Alarm is digitally integrated irrigation product that alerts the farm owner by radio or cell phone when the water is flowing into his filed or has reached an optimum point. Water flows into the field from the source proceeding to a check that is monitored. The Field Water Alarm probe is pre-set to appoint where the farmer wants to be notified. When the water reaches this probe it passes the information to the control unit translating and sending a message to a radio or cell phone. Action can then be taken to change over to the next set of pots or turn the water back. Saves time, saves money and saves guessing.

Hay & Crop Manager from Ag-Biz Solutions LLC
Hay & Crop Manager is a comprehensive farm management software package that tracks everything from the planting of the fields to receiving the final sales payment. The program provides growers with complete production, inventory and sales data, as well as tracks equipment inventory and maintenance and custom service invoicing. The software is designed to be used for all types of crops, is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh systems, includes built-in video tutorial instructions and is customizable for grower-specific needs.
