PrecisionAg WORKS Video Documentary Introduces The Data Decade

The PrecisionAg Institute will debut its video documentary “PrecisionAg: The Data Decade” at the Commodity Classic, March 4-6 in Anaheim, CA. The video examines the benefits of using precision data to manage inputs, control costs and increase yields and profits.

“For the most part, the industry has spent the previous decade in a collection mode while the tools of analysis lagged far behind the hardware and equipment,” says Bob Wanzel, producer. “That’s beginning to change now as sophisticated software for database analysis is coming to the forefront. The message here is that an individual’s management decisions can be sharpened with the help of deep layers of data collected across large areas of geography.”

The video was filmed during the course of one growing season and footage was shot during both planting and harvest. Those interviewed include growers Dennis Friest of Iowa; Robert Blair of Idaho; and Kirk Leifer, of Illinois; retailer Don Bierman of Wabash Valley Service; Tracy Blackmer of the Iowa Soybean Association; David Waits of SST Development; and Dr. Paul Fixen of the International Plant Nutrient Institute.

According to Wanzel, the goal was to get a more indepth look at the thought process involved in successfully using technology.

“Most growers can now justify precision agriculture equipment as tools that make their work easier. We want them to realize there are fantastic management advances that can be made by accurately interpreting the data being collected in the field.”

According to Wanzel, this message is geared to those just starting out in precision agriculture as well as those who have been collecting data for several years.

The Institute will present the video documentary at booth #446 at the Commodity Classic.

The PrecisionAg Institute, managed by the CropLife Media Group of Meister Media Worldwide, will incorporate a variety of integrated media offerings to help precision agriculture practitioners better understand and use precision agriculture technology. PrecisionAg Institute activities include research projects, an online reference library, PrecisionAg e-news, regional precision agriculture events, the PrecisionAg Learning Center and a PrecisionAg Hall of Fame.
