Feed Industry Kicks Off Connectivity Project

AgGateway, the agriculture industry eBusiness standards and implementation organization, has launched the first phase of their Enhanced Feed Connectivity (EFC) Project. The companies currently participating in phase-one of the project are: Alltech, Inc.; Mosaic Company; Southern States Cooperative; Triple Crown Nutrition, Inc; and Vita Plus Corporation.

With the current economy outlook today, companies are looking for ways to increase efficiencies and reduce the cost of doing business. One of the ways to do this is to reduce the manual processes that could be handled electronically by implementing changes to meet the needs of the industry. Also, to provide a platform to help address any regulatory needs that may be introduced in the future. In the quest to be proactive, the feed industry has recognized the benefits of electronic connectivity between suppliers, manufacturers and distribution to help streamline the order-to-invoice processes and reduce manual efforts and their associated costs.

This is especially important in the current economy, with increasing pressure on both margins and ingredient costs.”

Joel Newman, President and CEO for American Feed Industry Association commented “This project is critical for the industry to enhance business processes between companies and also the ability to meet industry recall and regulatory requirements. It is truly a win-win for the industry and all participants.”
