Built By Agronomists: 2017 Award Of Excellence Winner Wade Barnes on the Making of Farmers Edge

Wade Barnes, CEO and President of Farmers Edge, was recently honored as a 2017 PrecisionAg Award of Excellence recipient in the Crop Adviser/Entrepreneur category, one of four awards presented this year. Barnes co-founded the company because he believed in the value of variable rate technology, using satellite imagery and remote sensing technology to add efficiency and sustainability to farming. His dream was initialized in a basement office with two employees, and he has held on to his ambition in the face of continuing challenges to the business in the early growth years, adding locations, services, and staff, while continuously defining and redefining roles to meet objectives.

The PrecisionAg Institute recently honored Barnes during a special ceremony at the InfoAg Conference on July 25 in St. Louis. Honorees of this year’s prestigious award are recognized for their exceptional commitment to precision agriculture. They have passionately devoted their careers to the industry and set the stage for increased precision adoption and significant innovation.
