Beltway Session To Share Precision Ag Benefits With Regulators, Legislators

The Coalition for the Advancement of Precision Agriculture (CAPA) will host its inaugural event, the Precision Ag Forum, Thursday, September 18, starting at 4:30 p.m.

The PrecisionAg Institute is pleased to be a part of CAPA, a coalition or organizations that will seek to increase awareness of the productivity improvements and sustainability enhancements provided through precision agriculture practices and technologies, including variable rate technology, guidance systems, and soil testing and monitoring. The coalition will work to communicate the benefits surrounding these technologies to Capitol Hill and other key policymakers.

The Precision Ag Forum will begin with a roundtable discussion on precision ag technologies and impressions regarding the direction of precision ag in the future. Farmers using precision ag techniques and representatives from Ag Enterprise Supply, Raven Industries, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers will be on hand to address topics such as variable rate technologies, soil sampling, GPS-mapping and more. Karen Scanlon with Conservation Technology Information Center and Rod Snyder of Field to Market will also be in on the discussion to bring perspectives on conservation and big data, respectively.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to view exhibits and visit with participants as they demonstrate precision ag technologies.

The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. with remarks from Rep. Jim Costa (D-Calf.) and Rep. Adrian Smith (R-Neb.), co-chairs of the House Modern Ag Caucus.
