Q. Why did you launch the PrecisionAg Institute?

With the Institute, we have a compelling forum for bringing together growers of food and fiber crops, ag retailers, equipment and technology manufacturers, agricultural service providers, ag consultants, and education and University specialists – all united under a mission of knowledge and technology transfer in a way that benefits global agriculture.Through a wide array of partnerships, the PrecisionAg Institute will have the ability encourage and provide an outlet for many individual public and private sector initiatives and entities that seek to match precision agriculture technologies and techniques with specific crops and growing regions, all for the improvement of yield, efficiency and management in farming.

Q. Why the CropLife Media Group?

The CropLife Media Group staff has been instrumental in knowledge transfer to the benefit of precision agriculture as the practice began to be formalized in the early 90’s. First through Farm Chemicals and Dealer PROGRESS magazines, then through PrecisionAg.com, the PrecisionAg Buyer’s Guide, PrecisionAg Special Reports, CropLife and other outlets, the group has been a steady advocate of precision ag technology and it’s benefits to growers and ag retailers. Parent company Meister Media Worldwide also offers a connection to other crops and the world through media brands such as Farm Chemicals International, Cotton Grower, Cotton International, American Vegetable Grower, Florida Grower and American Fruit Grower. This connection will offer additional benefits in seamless sharing of crop-specific knowledge.

Q. How will the Institute be funded?

Growers, dealers and consultants who practice precision agriculture will find their affiliation with the Institute itself is to be free of charge, other than fees for special offerings such as live events and specialized training. To fund this benefit to the industry, we will seek sponsorship from “founding partners” in the allied industry, all of whom are stakeholders in effective transfer of new technology to growers, retailers, consultants and other practitioners.

Because people learn and understand in different ways, the PrecisionAg Institute’s footprint will cover most integrated communication media including live, in-person events, e-mail and web activities of different kinds and in-print materials including magazines and special reports. We will also partner with organizations and entities on the production of new, as well as existing events and activities.
