Innovation Series Agenda Zeroes In On Maximizing Key Services

In a recent survey of service providers conducted by PrecisionAg® Professional magazine, more than seven in 10 indicated that variable rate nutrient application, traditional grid sampling, and seed recommendations combined generate the most value for grower-customers.

With this in mind, the upcoming PrecisionAg® Professional Innovation Series event, set for Aug. 28 at the I Hotel and Conference Center in Champaign, IL, will place a heavy emphasis on maximizing these critical grower services.

Leading precision agriculture educators and researchers will be featured at the program, including Dr. John Fulton from The Ohio State University, and Nicholas Uilk from South Dakota State University. Fulton’s presentation will cover current and emerging value-centric practices, including university work on fertilizer placement, and more robust seeding recommendations. Fulton will also cover “smart scouting,” a more informed approach to field scouting that incorporates crop evaluation and soil status.

In “Pillars of a Successful Precision Program,” Uilk leads a presentation and panel discussion focused on the essential elements of a profitable and value-driven precision agronomy program. Utilization of data is one of the main pillars, featuring specific examples of how data has been used to prove ROI to growers and help cooperatives and dealerships show farmers value in the equipment they own and the programs they pay for.

An in-depth examination of precision practices in use among retailers will be presented by Dr. Bruce Erickson from Purdue University, including a deeper dive into the results of the 2017 CropLife® magazine/Purdue University Retail Precision Adoption Survey.

“Retailers are working hard to cut through the clutter and find technologies and best practices that deliver value to customers and profit to the bottom line,” says Paul Schrimpf, Executive Editor of PrecisionAg Professional and Innovation Series coordinator. “We’re building this day conference to help retailers make best decisions about their precision programs.”

The conference will be applying for CEU accreditation through the Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) program.
