Greetings from Las Vegas, where I’m attending the Agricultural Retailers Association annual meeting. The talk here on the first day has been dominated by the recent announcement about Agrium’s move to purchase UAP. But with the rosy outlook generally predicted for agriculture in 2008, There’s lot of buzz around this conference, including technology.
The year 2007 provided a wide range of collaborations between manufacturers, as well as a number of new product launches. Interest has continued to grow in two areas in particular — GPS steering and application control at the boom. In particular, automatic nozzle control and boom height leveling have taken off and show no signs of slowing down in 2008.
Well, I have two more days of walking around and talking to folks, so I will have plenty more to share next week. Talk to you then. . . .
