MyWay RTK Launches Support Interface

One year after its initial launch in Illinois, MyWay RTK continues to grow and evolve its RTK GPS offering. Its latest service, called MyWay Xchange, provides its customers, support personnel and resellers with an interface that gives users the ability to monitor and improve their connectivity to the RTK signal.

The reseller portal is designed to give resellers live information about their customers and base stations within their respective coverage areas, enabling them to ensure their customers’ RTK service is always performing at optimum levels.

MyWay Xchange features a real-time map that indicates the current or last known position of each customer. Having access to this live information allows resellers to specify a user’s proximity to surrounding base stations, so they can easily diagnose a connection issue in the event a user leaves the coverage area inadvertently. In addition, live streaming from base stations means resellers know at once if a base station ever goes offline.

By accessing the Exchange, users can remotely switch base stations (for example, from a MyWay base to a CORS base) on the fly using any piece of equipment that can raise an Internet signal, including an iPhone. An mobile version of MyWay Xchange is available (see picture at right).

MyWay Xchange also features live Doppler radar coverage for the entire United States, allowing resellers to see both active customers and current weather conditions simultaneously on one screen. In the event severe weather conditions limit a user’s RTK service, the reseller can easily diagnose the problem’s source without leaving the office. Resellers can also use the radar coverage to view weather forecasts and warn customers of impending severe weather conditions beforehand.

“If a reseller can provide his customer a little tip that helps them avoid a storm, that customer knows he’s working with someone who genuinely cares,” says Hill. “That’s just good customer service, and that’s what our customers have come to expect from MyWay resellers.”

And while it’s still being tested, plans are in place and moving forward to allow the flow of data to be controlled remotely using the MyWay Exchange as well. “It will allow the user to go in and control how data streams,” says Don Bierman, manager at MyWay RTK. “With the right hardware, I can dictate where I want my data to go — to the retailer, or the consultant, or whomever — and literally have it all controlled with an iPhone.” Data capabilities are expected to be announced in the first half of 2012.

MyWay is also expanding its service area, now firmly planted in Kansas and Nebraska and building out in eastern Iowa. Demonstration base stations are in place in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana, with Mid-South expansion plans in the works.
