Checking Out Some Big Iron
Early morning on Tuesday, August 19, I am boarding a plane bound for Bloomington, IL, and the Midwest AG Industries Expo (MAGIE). MAGIE is one of the largest regional equipment events specifically geared to large scale application -- if it's a rig with a 120-foot boom you're after, you've come to the right place.
It'll be great to get behind the wheel of some of these new machines, and to chat with the retailers looking to buy (with some actual cash in pocket), but I will also be interested in the technology side ... how are manufacturers making these big behemoths not only eat up a lot of acres, but also track field activity, log data, and generally make us smarter about what we do, and how we do it, in the field.
There's also a tent set up and loaded with technology-focused companies, and another opportunity to find out what's coming down the line for both full service retailers and growers. I look forward to sharing whatever I find out in next week's eNews.
And, if you're interested in attending MAGIE yourself, you can learn more on the MAGIE Show Web site here. If you do, be sure to stop me and say hello.
