The GMS-2 GIS provides four key functions into its new handheld device, including the following:

- The functionality of a mapping system that can integrate these data layers to simplify data collection.

With all these features—and options a farmer, spray contractor, crop scout or insurance agent has the ability to collect and record valuable field data in a single unit, Topcon's GMS-2 provides a strong solution for multi-function field data collection necessary for any farming operation.

Using a Windows CE operating system, the GMS-2 is equipped with color touchscreen, a powerful Intel processor, internal wireless Bluetooth connectivity, accuracy levels from sub-meter to centimeter range, removable, rechargeable lithium ion battery, SD memory slot and USB port. Also available are numerous options including a beacon receiver and Topcon Tools GIS post-processing office software.

Topcon’s field technologies handle GIS mapping tasks, including Digital images, GPS coordinates, compass bearings, and attribute information, all obtainable through integrated imaging technology, in a single trip to the field.

GMS-2 provides two choices of farm management and mapping software to fit specific field scouting and data collection requirements. It also offers a choice between FarmWorks, Site Mate Scouting software and TopPAD, a device specific version of ESRI’s ArcPad data collection tool.
