Topcon Adds Weather Station To X20

PrecisionAg eNews - Topcon Precision Agriculture’s new X20 Weather Station module incorporates a combination of sensors – ultrasonic, temperature and humidity – to record and report on important weather conditions.

The new Weather Station provides continuous weather monitoring to the X20, enabling the operator to view weather data while performing any agricultural application, from tilling to harvesting. With integrated mapping, weather and coverage maps can be recorded, printed, stored or transmitted by email as permanent records.

Rhett Schildroth, precision agriculture product marketing manager, said, “The Weather Station measures apparent wind speed and direction, air temperature and relative humidity. Wind speed and direction are calculated and recorded with the integrated X20 Guidance module connected to a GPS receiver.

“Only a weather station interfaced with GPS data can provide correct and accurate data about external environmental factors from a moving vehicle after operation,” he said.

Spraying when the conditions are optimal is enhanced with the X20 Guidance software, Schildroth said. “It uses both the weather station relative humidity and temperature data to calculate the actual Delta-T value, which is displayed in the status bar of the main guidance window.

“This allows an operator to only spray when the conditions are right for the intended application.”

The module also includes audio and visual alarms concerning adverse weather conditions.

Combined with the X20 GDX Viewer software, detailed maps and reports of weather conditions by location and date/time can be viewed, printed, copied to thumb drives or transferred to other farm operation software.
