Hemisphere GPS Releases Eclipse Dual-Frequency GPS

Hemisphere GPS announced earlier this week that it has added Eclipse dual-frequency GPS receiver technology to its product line.
Eclipse was built to allow OEM customers to integrate it into a wide variety of precision-intensive applications including GPS machine control for ag equipment.

Eclipse receiver technology is currently available as an OEM module and evaluation kit. Hemisphere GPS will also integrate Eclipse into some of its existing GPS receiver products and plans to introduce a variety of new Eclipse-based products in 2008.

Based on Hemisphere GPS' Crescent L1 GPS technology that incorporates exclusive techniques for reducing code measurement noise and mitigating multipath signals, Eclipse delivers reliable centimeter-level accuracy. Depending upon the application, Eclipse users can record and post-process GPS data or choose from several differential solutions including real-time kinematic (RTK), OmniSTAR (HP/XP) and SBAS (WAAS, EGNOS, etc.).

As an affordable dual-frequency solution, Eclipse receiver technology offers the OEM integrator some key advantages, including integrated L-Band tracking that powers down when not in use, multiple serial and USB ports, and upgradeable firmware.

“The versatility of Eclipse delivers exceptional value in a dual-frequency GPS module and makes it the perfect complement to our Crescent platform.” said Steven Koles, Hemisphere GPS President and CEO. “It allows us to continue to advance our existing product line as well as take advantage of great opportunities in new vertical markets.”
